NOTD: Milani, Sail Away

Hello loveys! Yet again I've been in absentia, I am so sorry. I was taken back for a stay in my second home, ie; the local hospital. Yet again I knocked myself out. God, I'm so accident prone, it's absolutely crazy. I don't think I've ever met anyone quite as prone as I am to accidents. My husband says I should live in a plastic bubble to keep myself safe, and I think he's probably right.

Anyhoo, let's get on to the good stuff. Before I was so rudely interrupted by my mishap, I'd decided to try a nail polish that I'd never tried before. I'd used the brand before, just not this particular colour.  Here's some pics for you to feast your eyes upon:

So, the question is, what do you think of this absolutely stupendous colour? For me personally, the question is entirely rhetorical.  A short phrase springs to my mind when I look at these pics. I love it! I've decided that from now on in with my NOTD's, I'm going to follow a format for my thoughts and opinions on the nail polish in question. Application, colour, staying power, the brush, overall thoughts. I'm also going to be giving the polish marks out of 10.
1) Application - In this case, I wasn't so keen. The polish was fairly clumpy, and dried quickly with streaking which meant I had to keep going over the np rapidly  to get a somewhat smooth finish. My score for application? 4/10
2) Colour - Ah. Now this I can't fault. It's an absolutely beautiful denim blue packed full with loads of silver micro-glitter. It dries to a fabulous satin sheen. Marks out of 10 for colour is definitely 9/10.
3)   Staying power - Pretty good as it goes. I started to notice flakes after a good 48 hours, and not before. I'm going with 7/10 for this!
4) The Brush - Quite frankly, it sucks. It's a typical cheap, nasty, thin brush with not enough bristles, and I think the brush probably had something to do with the streaking of the polish during application. 2/10.
5) Overall quality - Well, you know the saying, you get what you pay for. In this case, polish was under $5, so a great price. Would I buy Milani again? Oh yes. If I see another colour I like, I will definitely place it on my 'to do' list. The colour is gorgeous but then I am biased. Blue is one of my favourite colours. The colour lasted well. As well, if not longer than some of the pricier polishes out there. My disappointments were in the brush, and the application. But all in all, it's a very pretty polish and well worth the money. 6/10.

Do you think my remarks are fair, if you are a person who has already tried this polish? Or do you disagree with me entirely? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Enough from me now my darlings. I'll probably do another post tomorrow or Monday to try and play 'catch up.' Take care, be safe and I'll see you soon! Loads of love! xoxoxo

It's Been A Long Time Coming, But This One's For You, Bagloverburr!

A couple of months ago, one of the forums I'm a member of had a Secret Cupid. The lady that sent me mine, Bagloverburr, did the most amazing job. She sent me 10 nail polishes (yes, 10 polishes!), and they are so beautiful! Once I'd swatched them, I checked the collection and went out and got the 2 others that I wanted from the collection. Today I want to share pics of the beautiful polish with you. Are you sitting comfortably? Then let's begin!

I am absolutely astounded by how amazing these colours are. They are so full of pigment, they're positively saturated in it. The brush is fabulous, thick, wide, just perfect. And the polish goes on as smooth as silk. And what is this brand we're talking about? One of the premium brands? Oh no! We're talking about Wet n Wild. These polishes are only $1.99 each! Seriously, if I'd been blindfolded and had my nails done with these, I would have assumed that they were a premium brand, but they're not. Can you believe how gorgeous they are? I'm am so happy with them! I want more, Wet n Wild, bring out more!

Anyway lovey's I'm leaving off for now. My advice to you is to go out and get yourself a couple of these polishes. You're not breaking the bank, and I think you'll be as happy with them as I am! I'll see you all soon. All my love, be safe. xoxo

NOTD - One of my new indies!

Hi lovelys! Today I'm gonna show you one of the indie holo's I made the other week. This one I called 'USMC Bleeds Blue For Me, ' explanation after the pics! Anyway, pics first, then after those I'll tell you what I think.

First, the explanation for the name. My hubby is a Gunny in the Marine Corps, and I'm very proud of him. He also has the most amazing blue eyes, and I wanted a colour that reminded me of the colour of his eyes. I made this colour using luster base, some mica pigments and spectraflair.

It's actually as I like to call them, a holochrome. In other words, it's a holo that is also duochromatic. It's more holo looking in the bottle, but my disgraceful pictures aside, you can see a very pretty scattered holo in the nails in the sunlight.Unfortunately, I haven't got how to use SF down pat yet, and am wasting a lot, and not getting the results I want. Practice makes perfect, right? I used 2 coats and 1 coat of seche vite. Dry time was surprisingly fast, only a few minutes. I was very pleased with how 'pigmented' it is.

Please give me insight into what you think. I don't want hear 'it's pretty,' if you really think it's pretty awful. I have to say I am very happy with how it turned out, and I hope to be able to hone my skills in the near future. Anyway my loveys, see you all next time! Take care, stay safe, all my love xoxoxo

NOTD - and a what a beauty!

Hello my lovelys!

How goes it for you all today? Hope everything's well! I changed my nail polish earlier on, and did I pick a beauty! Nothing more to say, without further ado, I give you...a-England Princess Sabra!

This colour is just plain fabulous. I don't know how to describe it, to be honest. It's the most gorgeous soft greeny-brown with a scattered holo effect. It's just stunning. I seriously want more of these polishes. As of right now, I only have this one and Tristam.  I'd give my left leg to get ahold of St George, Dragon and few of the others! Maybe one day...
Anyway my lovelies, with a picture of this beautiful polish still in your head, I'll leave you for another day. Take care, be safe. All my love! xoxo

Nail mail delivery!

Well lovelys, I got me a glorious nail mail box today. To say I was excited to get it is the understatement of the year! The gorgeous Miagi Cat from Nail Polish & Gossip(a Facebook np group that I'm a member of) sent me a nail polish I've been lemming after for quite some time now. To make it even better, she sent me not just the one, but she also sent me a back up! Even better than that, she also included a couple more np's! The lemming I'm talking about is Max Factor Fantasy Fire. The extra's she included was another Fantasy Fire, Intense Plum which is a gorgeous plum creme(funny that, lol!) and Disco Pink, a gorgeous birght pink creme. The Fantasy Fire is a bright blue jelly with pink flecks in it, and it is reminiscent of Clrins 230. My description does even begin to desribe the gorgeousness that is Fantasy Fire. Anyway loveys, here's some pics for you:

That's enough from me for this post. I'll see you all soon. Take care and stay safe/ Loads of love! xoxoxo

Well, I started making indies and frankens!

And I'm really, really pleased with the results so far. Initially, when I tried to make holo's I put way too much Spectraflair into the bottles. I probably used 5 or 6 times too much, but I think I'm getting the hang of it now. It's a shame as that's a real waste at $10 a gram.

For those of you who don't know, Spectraflair is the most expensive pigment in the world, it comes in 3 different sizes: SF14, SF25 and SF35. SF14 has the smallest particles, and therefore the smoothest holo, SF25 has medium flakes and SF35 the largest.

I started out thinking I was going to like the SF14 the best, but ended up mixing both the SF14 and the SF35 together, and I think it looks great.

Here's some pics for you...let me know what you think!

Here a pic of the indies. I made these using Lusterbase, micas and SF. I named them all after the  USMC in tribute to my husband, who's a Gunny. The name from left to right are:
                                                                       Purple PFC
                                                           USMC Bleeds Blue For Me
                                                                Forest Mar Pat Green
                                                                You Like Pink, Private?
Here's some swatches of the indies:
This is a pic of the frankens I made. The only one that doesn't have SF in is the lilac one.
Swatches of the frankens to the left, and indies to the right. I have no names for the frankens, so if you wanna name them please send my your suggestions!
I have to buy some more Mica's before I make any more indies. I asked Steve for money for our 12th wedding anniversay(20th April), so hopefully that's what he'll give me.

Anyway, as I said please let me know what you think loveys! Take care, and I'll see you all soon. Be safe. Huge hug! xoxoxo

My new twins!

Hey there lovelys!

It's been a while, yet again! I'm sorry. I have ongoing issues with my health that affects not only my daily life, but my blogging too. Anyway, let's get onto the good stuff, shall we? My husband bought me a couple of sets of twins! I'm so happy with them, they're absolutely perfect! The first pair are called Helmer 1 and Helmer 2! I'm sure you want to see my beauty's, so here's some pics to feast your eyes upon:

Now onto my second set of twins, These ones I've been after even longer than the helmers. We were able to do an even trade, so these didn't cost us a penny, and I am so happy! Here's pics of these ones:

My original diamond studs were .50tw, only .25per ear. These ones are .62 per ear, so well over half carat per ear. Whilst the quality of the diamonds is lacking(there's no way we could have afforded to get VS or higher clarity, or H or higher colour) these are still SI and color J I believe. They have so much sparkle, and you can't see flaws when I'm wearing them. I really am pleased with them, we got a great deal.

Anyway darlings, I'm off to go play with my nail polish. You all take care, be safe and I'll see you soon! Loads of love. xoxo
